My self reflection – your thoughts become things!

Recently I have been taking so much in about the world. I often thought that the people around me were put there deliberately to annoy me, but it’s amazing what I have learnt over a period of just 4 months. I have felt desperately alone at times, but I have come to the conclusion that really it is because reflection is needed. It’s through people that you begin to understand yourself and more importantly, accept others. Once you are done with that, I believe spirit allows you to move on to the next chapter of your life.

I went through the worst relationship last year, and although fiery and passionate it was very controlling. I had become so drained out and desperate for change that I had forgotten where my strength lay. After the break up all I could think about was hate, and not only how I hated my partner, but also that I hated myself for letting him treat me that way.

When I was 21 my mother bought me a little book of quotations and one of them read “In youth we learn and in age we understand”. I can’t express how true the saying goes! And when I look back, I realise that I was trapped in my youth, there was anger unexpressed and my partner at the time had come into my life to almost force that anger out so it could be dealt with.

Your thoughts really do become things. And if you don’t express who you are then I do believe you can end up in a drowning pool of doubt. Because I wanted to change my way of thinking, positive people started to enter my life and open up my eyes to new things I also found people who inspired me, great spiritual thinkers such as Louise Hays: http://www.louisehay.com/ and Doreen Virtue: http://www.angeltherapy.com/

I think that when you ask for help and guidance, whether mentally or spiritually, it really does come to you. But much of it is about awareness and being open to new perspectives? If you feel that someone is annoying you on purpose, take a look within yourself and see if you can find the answer as to why they might be treating you in a certain way. Or perhaps try and put yourself in their shoes? I never thought this was possible, but I can honestly put my hand on my heart and say that my life has become better, and I feel stronger because I am able to reflect! Rather than feeling hatred towards my ex-partner I now thank him for not only making me stronger but for also teaching me such a valuable experience – it needed to be done!
