Psychic mediums are witches and need to be burnt at the stake. Right? Wrong.
This was my fear when I “came out” as a psychic medium because of this hangover belief (and still prevalent) that the work of psychic mediums is all hooky spooky, witch-like and full of spells. My fear, that I would be judged, feared even. And I get it. It can seem kind of strange that someone who you have never met can tell you things about yourself, your life, your current situation that they could never have known because they do not know you and just met you. Or connect with a passed loved one and tell you information about that person or animal, that they could have no way of knowing. Again, because they just met you. So how does psychic mediumship work and are we witches?

Are Psychic Mediums all Witches?
So straight up, no we are not witches. We can be just regular folk coming from all different work backgrounds such as graphic designers, lawyers or teachers. Many have been highly intuitive their whole life and then flexed their psychic muscles engaging with psychic mentors to develop their abilities (aka me), others have near death experiences or multiple serious health issues that seems to bring on, and transcend them into other realms thus opening them up to receiving, seeing and giving spirit guidance.
Others, also born with it, have with a very strong ability and recognition from an early age, to see and connect with those passed and/or entities in spirit realms. Often these peeps come from multi-generational lineage of those with psychic mediumship abilities, aka it’s passed down through each generation.
What is a Psychic Medium?
So what exactly is a psychic medium, how do we work and can we be a trusted source of guidance when needed? First up, let me say that some psychic mediums still like to classify themselves as a witch and lean into this type of work being occult like. And back in the day, it was deemed hooky spooky, witch-like and full of spells but in modern day, it doesn’t need to be. Let me break it down for you.
A psychic medium is someone with the ability to connect energetically with other realms. In doing this, they receive or channel information from source/universe or your spirit guides (however you like to dress it up, and this can include your higher self, angels, passed loved ones and archangels), to bring clarity around specific issues and/or making decisions. This is to work psychically.
What is Mediumship?
Mediumship is connecting with your passed loved ones in the spirit world. Yes, there is a difference between the two. To work psychically, means connecting with your energetic field and spirit guides for guidance. It’s about you in this physical world. Mediumship is connecting to loved ones in the spirit world as said. A psychic medium can do both, work psychically or with mediumship. You will find some practitioners only work in one area or believe that they can, but what I have learnt is that it’s all about intention. Personally, I do both.
What we are doing when working, aka in a reading with you, is tuning into what you might be more familiar with as our sixth sense or intuition. We use our psychic abilities (known as clairs) of seeing, hearing, knowing, feeling, smelling and tasting to receive information from spirit realms/universe and to pass on their guidance. It works the same for both psychic and mediumship readings.
The Psychic Senses
There are six main psychic senses. Clairvoyance (clear seeing), clairaudience (clear hearing), claircognizance (clear knowing), clairsentience (clear feeling), clairsalience (clear smelling), and clairgustance (clear tasting). If you identify with your sixth sense, this is aligned with claircognizance, clear knowing. If you identify with having a gut feeling, a sense of unease that you cannot explain, this is clairsentience, clear feeling. It’s all about energy, connecting with energetic fields and different levels of source.
Potential Benefits
Anecdotal reports on the benefits of having a psychic reading is that it brings about feelings of clarity and clearness for your next steps and helps in your decision making. Connecting with passed loved ones is known to be comforting and healing. Before I became a professional psychic medium, I saw many psychics over the years. I always seemed to seek one out when I was feeling lost and confused or unsure of what I should do next. The result for me was feeling sure about what I had to do next, taking away any confusion.
This is the feedback I also receive from clients. Anecdotal feedback for connecting with passed loved ones, is that it is comforting and healing. My experience is similar. Connecting with passed loved ones through a psychic medium has brought about an incredible amount of healing and happiness for me. I’ve been able to let go of grief and emotions I’ve held onto for years.
In Conclusion
Now what you do with the guidance received in a reading is totally up to you. Just like guidance or advice from anyone, it has to resonate with you. You can take what comes through with a grain of salt, or let it form part of your decision making. There will be some things that don’t make sense to you now, and might take days, weeks or months to make sense. But some of it, if not the vast majority of it, will make perfect sense to you right now.
These days we have many tools at our disposal for support and guidance. This is just one. But yes, a psychic medium reading can be trusted. And yes, it can be a highly valuable experience. Check reviews though and how the person works if available. We have a code of ethics and if any practitioner leaves you feeling spooked or worried, they are not practising ethically.
My suggestion if you are feeling the nudge, is to give it a go. As a client of mine said, it can’t hurt and might be just the ticket you need to take that next step, or leap of faith.
